This is a osage sapling bow that I made last January. It is 66" n/n. 52#@28". With the bark on. After thousands of shot it has about a inch of set.

This is my first time using photo bucket so bare with me
-
Here's the $ shot. It a little stiff but it shoots great. I was afraid to push it to far
-
How did you preserve the bark from rotting?
-
I sanded the bark down as much as could while still leaving some on and sealed it with true oil a few months after I split it. Then sat it with my other staves for a yr. And hoped for the best. It did warp some as it dried, but it worked out to be center shot. I Was going to heat it but I didn't want to push my luck with it. I figure if the bark was going rot off, it would of done it by now. ( hope). ::)

Sapling and limb bows are cool .

Bigger pics??
-
Ill enlarge some once I learn how
-
you can set the pic size on Photobucket. 640x480 is ideal.
I love osage sapling bows. I've never left the bark on but have made 4 or so with good success. My most recent method was to saw the pole in half, lengthwise and bind the two halves back together with small wood spacers between them to allow good air circulation.

I may have to try one next year .

I'll work on resizing the pics, but it might be a bit. I'm getting ready to head up to michigan for a few days. Pretty pumped about it, I'm bringing my bow fishing rig with me. I guess it's legal to arrow catfish there. Which isn't the case in Ohio. My time is limited but ill give it hell. Go Buckeyes!

Tiller looks good from what I can tell. I would love to see some better close up pics of the bark. Good luck bowfishing.

Pics are very hard to see but looks very pretty from what I can see
-
Let's see if this looks better, had to download a app.
-
That looks very nice and very primitive! I never would have guessed that would work. I always figured the bark would either pop off or break under tension, glad it worked out for ya:)

Very cool! C'mon man, more large pics. Really like it so far. :)

The pic with the bow string up. Is where it was cut from. And those are it's sister saplings waiting.. to be harvested. And as a side note. The thorns grow back if u cut them off.

Buddy of mine did one like this a long while back. The bark cracked from tip to tip. Nice job on keeping it together.
