Title: Wood fired pot
Post by: Zuma on August 16, 2014, 12:33:54 pm
I was straightening out the wood pile and
needed to burn off the tree bark.
I hate to waste energy so I found a leather hard
little pot I made a month or two ago.
I already had the fire going so I stuffed a large coffee can with horse
apples, pot too. I pushed back the ashes and dug a hole to put the can in.
I carefully covered the can with cooler ashes.
I then added hotter and hotter ashes over a short period of time.
I left the can opening down wind and the top edge exposed to the air to let any moisture escape. I added more bark and small hunks of wood until I had a nice little fire going on top of the can. I kept the fire going for five or six hours and it burned through the night and most of the next day.
The fire cooled enough the next morning.

That's a sweet little pot! Tree bark is the best stuff to open fire ceramics.

 ;D Thanks guys.
The next project will be bigger stuff.
I really like the color oxygen reduction produces.
