I want to do this all the time. I don't really have the things I need (thigh pad, leather lap mat) to do it all the time. I have a large copper bopper (Big Bobber), and small copper bopper, a deer tine pressure flaker, and a copper nail pressure flaker. Here is the second attempt from regular obsidian. I got a good flake (twice this size) and decided to go with it. Let me know what you can see that needs work. I may be hooked. So far I have only been cut 2 times, both on the lower leg. And I did this one in flip flops >:D

Looks good for second. Just need to refine your method, accumulate more tools and get a leg pad. All I've ever used is an old pair of leather welding sleeves folded several times..

I have more luck with precussion than I do pressure. It is very addicting. I hope I can find some more stone this next weekend.

Your pressure flaking will get better. Do you have a course stone that you use to grind your platform? That obsidian should flake well with you with a good platform. keep you lines straight. Looks great for #2. Better than my second!

What type of stone would you suggest? Like a concrete sanding stone? I use a hammer stone to grind now, it is granite.

Concrete blocks work. I have several different grit grinding stones, I purchased at the auto parts house, and break into pieces. Course and a medium grit. For different rock and for big and small work. Setting up a good platform is what its all about. Jackcrafty has all kind of utube videos ( allergic hobbit). You should watch if able.

I will. I was looking for his Duct Tape intro on a few, never saw any!

You can just fold over an old towel or rag for a leg pad. Looking real good!

Looks like a pretty good first kill to me. I don't think that cucumber is going anywhere. Skin it and eat it. :)

If you are gonna get "real" good, you will also need Flip-Flops. ;D

I do knapp in flip flops. I need to start wearing pants though, my legs are a mess. The first few flakes only hit the tattoo, so it was all good.
