Would anyone be kind enough to let me know if there are any decent places to buy yew staves in Canada. I need a good quality stave for making an English longbow.
-
You live in England, what wrong with your yew over there? ;)
Longbow worthy yew is hard to find, 90% of my yew is 5' and under.
I can't justify selling my yew, because its worth more to me than the price tag.
But trading...I trade yew all the time.
If you got anything, skins, nice sinew, other bow woods or shafts, pm me

No I live in Alberta....
-
Drive one province to the west and cut your own! That's what I did. Made a holiday out of it ta boot.
-
Ya if your in alberta your not far from yew.
I could of sworn it said you were from England on your profile

Jamie MacDonald of Ravenbeak bows, he lives on the West Coast. He posts his bows on here from time to time.
-
Jamie rarely sells staves anymore, maybe in person if you asked reaaaaaly nicely.
he saves all his wood for classes and customs. You could try him out though
-
You might try Carson from Echo archery also. Top notch guy who knows his stuff!

Yeah I mailed him and he seems really on the ball. Never got a reply from Ravenbeak. I'm thinking of cutting my own yew next year in BC, but I need something to work now.
