Title: Hunting rig almost done
Post by: Blaflair2 on September 15, 2014, 11:26:28 am
Pat b was generous enough to help me out with a hunting bow in a trade we made. I just had to shoot it in and dress her up. I'm not even sure the dimensions but I know she comes in at 70@29"

Boy is it fast

Split a giant cotton mouth skin for backing. Some tread wrap just because. Still gotta put some leather on her. Got last coat of finish drying.

What y'all think?

You can Pearlie but it won't get you anywhere. ;)
She's looking good, Bruce. 70# is a bit heavy but if you can handle it there should punch a hole in an elk.  8)

This bow was going to be a TG trade bow but I had problems with it and opted to make another for that trade. The ring ratio is about 50/50 and it dented badly and cracked when I reflexed the tips. I filled the belly cracks with super glue. She shoots well and was tillered out to 30"(for a 29" draw). When Bruce was looking for a bow for 29" draw I sent him this one. The original was gonna be tillered to 45# to 50#@29". I'm surprised it is still at 70# but what the hey.  ;D

Sweet looking bow. I could draw that one to about 14 inches. Lol . good luck hunting with it. That's a definite arrow thumper there.

Who made those arrows for you, the four splice footed ones? I wanted to ask them how they made such beautiful arrows. I told ya they were to light for that bow, thats why they went left! Also hitting 2x4s with broad heads makes it hard to pull them out an they break off at the tips. I bet you could fix them enough to fling.

It doesn't take much to make a set of arrows, if you can make a bow you can sure make some basic arrows.
Just ask a few questions to get you started.

Go to wapiti archery and order up some 70 to 75 spine. And make them up.

I don't have time to embark on arrow making. I don't know how to spine them. Don't know how to fletch em. And don't have anymore broadheads. Soooo... I'm screwed ATM lol

I have a few 3555 gold tips that should fly like darts out of that bow. And all you would need is broad heads .

Glue on heads or screw? Whatcha need for em?

Screw in broad heads I use 300 grain tuskar broad heads from braveheart archery.
