Title: Tiller check please
Post by: DC on September 17, 2014, 06:31:50 pm
Does the bend in the unbraced left limb explain the extra bend in the full draw. It's a bow for my granddaughter. I'm shooting for 35# and I'm at about 38 now. I don't want to scrape much more if I don't have to. Thanks

Yes the deflex in the left limb will show a little more. The right limb is just a little flat right before the kink.

So a few more scrapes on the right side just inside the kink?

like jon said but if it's shooting good put a bunch through it and finish it, we all chase that "perfect tiller" and lots of times end up with a kids bow ;) finish it :)

Not too close to the kink or it may hinge if you take too much. Back about 2-3 inches from the kink.

Bushboy- It's Douglas Maple. Here's a link to what it used to look like   http://www.primitivearcher.com/smf/index.php/topic,42864.0.html
This is reaction wood. :D

Bubby-I'm sanding as we speak. Actually it's supposed to be a kids bow. We'll see if I like it. It's 35# approx @ 27". Maybe I can use it to build some muscle.

JonW_ I came in a bit more maybe 4-5". I'm happy. It lost a couple of pounds so I called it quits
