Title: Winter blues
Post by: bow101 on October 15, 2014, 10:55:37 pm
You guys ever get the winter blues.  What I do is jump in the car and go for a drive to another town.  Spend a few hours looking in thrift shops for leather goods, books, misc stuff tools etc.  Its always nice to get out of town.  Gives a whole new perspective to the day.  Take a lot of photos that keeps me occupied.

Winter is my favorite time of year. I love walking in the woods with the cold air biting at my face. Winter skies can be some of the most beautiful also.

I suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder, too.  I want to  burrow down in the basement and sleep like an old bear.  Problem is, it can spiral into depression and worse, so I do like Pat does.  Get off my butt and just get out in the sun whether I want to or not.

Strange thing about it, winter is my favorite season.  I love late season muzzleloader deer (no tag this year, first time in 10 years), ice fishing, stomping thru the woods in the snow, camping in my big ol' canvas tent with a wood stove crackling....if it is outdoors, it's wunnerful.  But overcoming the inertia is tough.

Love the winter, Most around here think I am crazy but something about being out in the weather on them cold days walking in the woods/cutting fire wood /scrapping and tanning hides or just in my outside shop good fire in the fire pit, working on Bows/knives/arrows just makes me feel alive. :)Now if I stay inside I do get the blues. :) :)

I am also a fan of the winter. There is nothing like being in the wild in the snow. Also, due to plowing snow, I tend to be a night walker during the cold months (Work 9 pm to 9 am on nights that it snows). There is nothing quite like the silence of a good snow storm. There is also nothing like being awake on New years day at 8 am. It is like the world has died, there aren't very many people around!

Winter; thanks but no thanks, arthritis and cold go hand in hand. I can do without both.  ::)

Have to agree with most here, winter is my favorite time of the year. This past season I started in on winter backpacking, instead of using a full tent though I camp with a half shelter in the winter (no bugs so no worries about keeping them out). No better feeling for me than just before going to bed with the cold just outside the sleeping bag and the soft snow flakes slowly falling down inches away from your nose. Can't wait for this season!

I love winter for hunting season and not sweating constantly but I hate short days. I get off work at 4:30 and by the time I drive 25 minutes home its pretty much dark. The sun is setting as I cross the bridge over the TN river so that is pretty cool. I get to witness some pretty awesome sunsets. I cross the bridge every day at the same time so everyday it is lower and lower this time of year until spring and then it gets higher and higher.

Ice Fishing & Trapping and Maybe a Squirrel hunt works for Me. Winter Camping is the best - if done correctly. Bob
