Title: My grandsons new bow
Post by: Dean Marlow on October 29, 2014, 10:25:11 am
I am very lucky to have my grandson living close to me and having him loving to shoot these primitive bows just as much as I do. The good thing about it is every of couple of years they out grow the one they have and need another one. This summer he kept telling me he wanted a new bow and wanted one of those snakey Osage bows to shoot. Looking threw my Osage I found this short piece that I thought would work. It is 52-1/2" long. 1-1/4 inches wide to mid limb then tapers down. The draw weight is running about 30 lbs. Don't know exactly but we just took wood off of it until he could get it pulled back. It has a cloth snake skin on the back which I am not real fond of yet. Haven't put a finish over it so maybe that will bring the colors out a little more. Any way I got a happy kid for a couple of more years.

More pics. Looks like the top limb could bend just a little more on the outer third.

Nice bow for your grandson, Dean. I envy you having a grandson to spoil.  ;)
Is that one of those digital camo snakes on the back?   ;D

WOW, that is a fine bow for your grandson.  He's a lucky kid.  I would have been in "hog heaven" to have had a bow like that when I was his age.  Nice work grandpa!

That's great Dean. Love that full draw shot! Those arrows have survived for a good bit.

Thanks fellows for the nice compliments. Pat I can't tell you if this is one of those digital snake skins. I can't remember where I got it for sure. And Pearl not to many of those arrows left. The FLU -FLU arrows are his favorite. He like the noise they make. Dean

Nothing could be nicer than a custom made osage snake bow for a grandson and you can tell from the look on his face that he agrees.  :)  Great work Dean, enjoy the shooting together.

We ALL love the sound of flu-flu arrows, Dean!  Robin Hood lives in all of us!

Looks like the little blighter has it bad!  Poor kid.  With any luck, he'll go to the grave with this infection!

I can tell he loves that bow, I would too. I can tell a lot of love went into that project both ways. Really nice character Osage Dean. Tiller is spot on ;)

Love the shot of him just after the release and his eyes are following the arrow out to the mark!  Such fun...
