How thick should the leather be for a finger tab?

I use a Widow tab, they are  made up of 3 thin layers totaling maybe 3/16" thick.

I just received an E.W. Bateman and seems ideal to me.  Are you building your own tab?

Yes. I started with 1/8" thick and now I'm sanding down a bit at a time. It seems to be better but I'm such a lousy shot it could be coincidence.

Made 1st couple weeks ago using 1/8" & am liking.  Definitely likey more than glove.  But need to cut out another using thinner leather so can compare.
