A homebrewer friend of mine offered to make me a batch of beer for a bow, easy trade in my book! He helped me saw down the stave for this bow, which I've been slowly working on since this summer. Had to heat treat and pike it a bit to make weight, but pretty happy with the outcome. Gave it to him today and he was stoked, very nice feeling :)
Specs: Ocean spray, 45-50# range at 28". 62" ntn with a slight D/R. Started out with about an inch of deflex to the start of the recurves, took about 1/2" more in set, mostly because I worked it too green. about a hair over 1 1/4" at the fades, tapering to roughly 1/4" nocks, overlaid with mountain mahogany. Back is natural bark, sanded way down to 400 grit. 200 shots later, no cracking!
Pretty happy with this one, but I'd love to get your feedback, let me know what you think!

Sweet bow!
Keep it on the downlow, or your friend might get busted by the federales.

Sweet bow, and cool misfits patch on that vest got that tattoo'd on back of my neck
-
I'm jealous. Very nice looking bow, from a species that's on my list to work with. From the photos, it sure looks like you live in the Pacific Northwest or B.C.

Never worked with OS before ...but IMHO the top limb looks like its developing a hinge and the bottom last 2/3 looks a little stiff.....
but that just IMO

Nice work Accipiter. Looks like you guys are at the Washington Park range in Protland. ..how are the bales right now?

Thanks everyone! OS is some great wood, glad the secret is getting out, there's been some awesome ocean spray bows on here recently.
Pekana - I think we're safe in Oregon!
stixnstones - My friend is definitely cooler than me, the best part is he has a varsity letter patch on that jacket too!
Bill - definitely right on that one! Its a bit drippy right now, but it does have its perks
DBar - I see what you mean, I think its kind of an artifact from the reflexed tips, but I guess time will tell on the hinge.
Carson - Thanks, I was waiting for someone from the portland area to chime in :D The bales (and ground) are a bit soggy, but not horrible.

Good job and good trade if the beers good.

Nice bow, any IPA?
