I have called everywhere around here to find a place I can go find a hickory board that I can pick out my self but no luck. anyone got any ideas?

Try a local custom cabinent maker. Thats where I have gotten them in the past. Danny

yep try a cabinet shop where they build them and don't just assemble them, tell them what you want and ask for their suppliers #

I have had good luck at Menards and I am fortunate to have several Amish sawmills close by.... Brian

Menards around me carry them in stock as well. However that being said I have been checking there about once a week for the past month and a half and have yet to find a suitable one. I usually am able to find red oak no problem. Is it really this hard to find decent hickory boards to make bows or am I just having a bad run of it?

Hickory is used very often in the furniture manufacturing and there are lots of furniture factories around central NC. Have you checked out that avenue?

When I am down south, usually Mississippi I stop by lumber mills and but hickory lumber direcct from the mills. Last time I was there I bout 4 4X4X10' posts of hickory for $4.00 each. It cost me about $100.00 to ship them home and they were still wet.
