got a nice pc of black locust from Greg/badly bent a while back and just finished it up, 64" ttt with some short statics and a Eiffel tower kind of layout, I used some hoof that I got from dubois If I remember right, really worked nice, anyway the bow is 48# @ 28" and shot to 29"fast and pretty wood, easy to work I liked it(http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt320/bubncheryl/Mobile%20Uploads/20150104_091328_zpstvv2ru7n.jpg) (http://s623.photobucket.com/user/bubncheryl/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20150104_091328_zpstvv2ru7n.jpg.html)

Looking great bub. Nice overlas :)
-
Man Bubby that bow looks smooth and nice all around, great work on that IL black locust my friend. I haven't made a bow from that batch of locust yet but Pearly has a few few other PA guys have staves from it and I've heard it is pretty solid stuff. I got a couple staves of it left, think I'll tear in to one soon. :)
Looks like you heat treated the belly? Also is that big knot in the second to last picture in the handle area of that bow?
-
yeah Greg she's a smooth shooter, and that knot is in the handle still has bark or cambrium in it and is slightly open, no bend there so no worries, thank's for the chance to work it, I did heat treat the belly and also got some funky deflex out of one limb, if I was to do it again I think i'd make the levers just a little shorter and get a little more working limb but other than that it's a good design I think for this wood
-
Really nice looking bow bubby,
-
That is a nice looking bow. I love the tip overlays.
-
Great looking bow! Tip overlays look great.
-
Nice looking bow! Horn turned out great.
-
The hoof overlay blends in nice with the wood. Cool - clean stick.
-
Another sweet bow, Bub! 8)
-
Very nice work, bet it's a sweet shooter. ;) :)

-
finally got that one finished huh, came out great.
-
Nicely done. Well tillered, as usual.
-
Looks great to me, Bub! Nice and clean.
-
If that's moose hoof from DuBois, then you are using hoof which came from huge Alaskan bulls which were taken with bows. I sent him a bunch when we were doing wood/sinew trades. Polishes like a dream, smells nasty! The bow looks great.
-
Looking good bubbly!
-
Absolutely beautiful, Buddy!
-
Nice looking bow man. Nice work!
-
Looks great. I have a stick of that which I've had for years. Gotta get to it.
-
Wow guys i appreciate all the comments, and the info about the moose hoof that's cool info, thanks again, bub
-
Nice bow! The cross stitch leather lacing on the grip really makes the bow stand out!
-
Sweet bow Bubby. I like everything about it. Danny
-
Nice looking bow.
I picked up a large chunk of BL many years ago from a place in Southern Ontario, made several bows out of that piece. It had very thick rings. That wood took to heat-treating quite well and it would keep most of any reflex I added to the bow.
-
Missed this one some how. Sweet bow bubby! Love the drawn profile.
-
Another sweet bow, Bub! 8)

Beautiful hoof overlays, looks translucent. Nice work Bubby, looks fast indeed
-
Sweet bow there bubby, I also like the hoof transparancy - looks great.
What is the proportion of bending limb / lever?
-
I think the levers are 12" but I'll be home in a bit I'll check
-
Missed this somehow Bubby. I like that FD. Handle is pretty sweet too.
-
thanks guy's, Simon the levers including the fades are 13" and the working limbs are 15"
