I'm Kegan's brother, I made the flatbow he put up earlier. This bow is made of a very straight 68 inch hickory stave that had a natural reflex, giving it the gull-wing shape; it is 75# at 26 inches. The handle is just regular leather, as is the strike plate. It shoots an 830 grain arrow with accuracy and speed. I stained it with speicial walnut to give it the nice color, and finished it with floor wax. I like this bow and the way it shoots. It performs well for the times that I have shot it. It is an all around well performing bow, especially for my second ;D.

Nice to meet ya Kyle, so now its two of ya cranking out bows not sure us old farts can keep up with ya all ;)
Nice bow but at 75# it hurts just to think about pulling it. Tiller looks pretty good but it looks like it could bend into fades a bit more.
If yer like Kegan you will probably post another one tommow :)

Very nice bow,
with two of you, I'll bet it's fun talking about bows and arrows and just about anything related to archery, eh? ;)

wow nice bow. I like it. very nice
-
Nice work, 75# !!!! what are you guys hunting? ;D
-
Ya'll actually got a scale or are ya just guessing the weight? ???
Can't imagine a fella with that size arm could draw a 75# bow.
Feel like I'm bein' bamboozled! :P
But hey, maybe ya'll are real men ! ;)

Nice bow Kyle, glad you are getting into this with your brother. I would offer that your lower limb is just about hinging in the outer third of the limb. I'd get it bending better at mid-limb if I were you. You certainly have the poundage to give to make this happen. I like the bend in your upper limb.
Looking forward to seeing a lot more of your bows in the coming months/years. Startiong this young, you and your brother ought to really get good at this if you stick with it.

Looks like bow building must run in your family. Nice work for your second bow!
-
Very nice... Good luck to both of you!

Pretty good for a second bow, or even a third or fourth. I also think you need to get a little more limb bending. There is a huge non bending section in the middle and quite a bit of outer limb that is not bending. If you will use these areas more you wont get so much set. What are the dimesions of the bow, width thickness and such. How about a front profile picture. Justin

Unfortunately, it's mainly frugalness ;D.
Minuteman- I got an actual scale (the 110# bow scale from 3Rivers), before that using the bathroom scale. I just became enamored with heavy bows, and he feels the need to show me up ;)

Thanks :). Justin the Dimensions are: 1 1/2" for most of its length, tapering at the tips to 1/2" nocks. I dunno the thickness, but the handle is a bit thicker than the surrounding limbs. It had a natural reflex in the grip and took some set after beign tillering slightly green.
Rick- tree rats and bambi's ;)

Great job, Kyle! We'll look at it again for January Self BOM.
-
Kyle, that'll be more than enough for the both of 'em. ;)

Very nice. Looks like a fine shooter. Jawge

Those must be some pretty big tree rats. I hope you using flu flu's or your gonna lose lots if you miss shooting a 75 pounder. ;D

Nice bow.If your just getting into this then your going to have a good teacher.Kegan is always building something cool and creative.Keep up the good work.tradrick

Nice work. the upper limb is bending more than the lower, but as it seems there are no problems, so nothing to worry about.
Minuteman: I guess my arm is about the same size and I can pull a 95# bow, so I guess the orange is the secret :D :D :D
Ps: great looking hair you got there. simillar to mine, and about as long also.
-
I don't know Finnish, Minuteman has red hair too!
-
Nice job Kyle, you are coming righ along. :)Glad to have some young blood here. :)

Good work, although I agree you could get the limbs bending out of the fades more. :)
-
I'll retract my statement, Kegan, I stand in awe of yours and your brother's awesome upper body strength. ;D
That being said be careful and don't hurt yourself pulling those heavy bows. Just because you can pull it doesn't mean its not destroying your shoulder.
You may have a longer life as an archer( and I'd bet money your accuracy would improve) if you start shooting some 60# bows or even( heaven forbid) 50#!
Hey Shannon, you are right, what little hair I have is red, unfortunately its all on my chin! :o

Thanks man ;D!
Minuteman- Thanks :D. Kyle's more sensible than I am- he's got several 55-60# he shoots regularly. But we try and save heavy weights for longer bows ;). And we're pretty far from normal- he's a bruiser (he weighs in at 250#) and I'm heavey arrow-obsessed ;).
