Haven't posted a bow in a while so here is one I just finished. This bow was made from a honey locust stave I cut 14 months ago. It is 44" from nock to nock and draws 42#@20" The bow has a stiff 6" handle with a mild set back giving me 38" of working limbs. So the bow is actually being overdrawn at 20" this is accomplished due to the sinew /hide glue backing. I feel the bow will give another inch or so but needs to be broken in more first. The handle is red trade cloth and is bound with brain tanned buckskin. Green and rust red ochre adorn the bow along with a horse hair tassel.
Since this picture was taken a few days ago I have added more sinew wrapping to the mid limbs and ochre them green giving. The bow has a nice overall look in my opinion.

A few more pics with some dogwood arrows.

Nice finish but looks a mite hingy above the handle.
-
That is nice!

Nice, did you remove the sapwood on the honey locust?
-
very cool
-
Yes the sap wood was removed. And I see what your talking about Pat but it s a play in the light The bow doesn't hinge, the bends are nice and even, Also you might notice that that upper limb in the first picture has not been ochred yet like the bottom and throws the eye off a little.

Fascinating IG. That thing has to be a real hoot to shoot. I would never be able to master it I don't think. If I could it would be my favorite style of tree stand bow. Perfect form and function as it was I am sure for the mounted archer. The red accent is stunning.

That's beautiful

Very impressive. That's a lot of work from a limited amount of wood, (...and sinew). ;)
