Post by: beartail on February 21, 2015, 06:51:52 pm
whats the best way to thin percussion bulbs? you got thickness and not a lot of width to take it of in. I know you use that end for the tip but  you still gonna want that as thin as possible.is there a certain teqneque to do this.

I angle my flakes from the putter edge of the bulb inward.   Working my way to the center of the bulb. If done right your last flake is almost like a thinning flute.   I know most knapper a use the bulb for making the tip.  I like to use it for my base.   It's just my preference .
