Title: Are they ipe flowers?
Post by: leehongyi on March 06, 2015, 02:04:52 pm
It's spring now in south China. My wife and I took our 3years boy to a green field in an university last friday. We enjoyed the soft wind and the colours of peach flower and some yellow flower we havn't seen last years. I searched the web and found that they are similar to ipe flower. Here are the pics. Anyone could judge the exact name?

I cannot confirm or deny it is ipe, but those are beautiful trees.

I have been curious, and you might know...... what does a waxwood tree look like?  The internet is inconsistent.

  Ju nimen hau chwuntien!

I'd be a bit skeptical about Ipe ending up in China. Doesn't really seem like a choice to end up there.

The university imported kinds of plants these years so I think the yellow tree may be imported last year

They do look remarkably like some online pics. Get a close-up individual comparison.

The teacher told me the name in Chinese 黄花风铃 means yellow flower aeolian bells. In Baidu the chinese name also is Tabebuia chrysantha in latin.

The  latin name is universal, it's Ipe.
