Title: Question
Post by: Blaflair2 on March 11, 2015, 01:40:53 pm
I glued my other ipe and hickory billet together. It has about 1/2" more reflex. What one should I make top and bottom?

I make my bows symmetrical and make that decision later in the tillering process.

Based on greater reflexed glue-ups fooling the bowyer more weightwise, I'd make it the top limb.   If you make it the bottom it may come round more than you would like after some shooting.

I agree with Pat. You could also snip an 1" off the higher reflexed end to even it out, then make it your bottom.

I was thinking that Chris, I've never made a bow with a shorter bottom limb. Also I wanna cut a shelf in. So Im making the riser part a little longer than normal.

After you tiller the bow and shoot it in you won't see much difference in reflex.
