Is it weird that it feels reassuring that even Marc St. Louis breaks bows every now and then?  ???

Yes it was a Yew warbow I was working on, I say warbow but it was only going to be 80#.  It took me a day to find all the pieces, there may still be some small pieces kicking around.  I had it tillered to 26 and when I took it to 28 she let go.  It had hardly lost any of the reflex it had started out with.  Could be my shop was too dry

Definitely not delam.

I broke one today, more or less purposely. It had lifted a sliver where the grain went around a small knot. (Osage, BTW;) I just decided to shoot it till it broke. It was shooting nicely, then came the tick. On the next shot I released quickly to the tune of another tick. Third shot it blew.

For the record, like the few other bows I have  had break at full draw, all the pieces when toward the target--away from me--except the handle and lower limb, which just stayed in my hand.

Yep ,they do. Seems Yew will do it more [all of the sudden]  than some woods I have worked with.  ;)

Yes I have had Osage blow explosively before as well.  This is the first Yew bow to break on me.

Yes I have had Osage blow also, but usually you are expecting trouble for one reason or another on Osage, at least that has been my experience, the yew I have had blow I still see no reason why, other than it's just wood. :) The Yew I have had blow is a lot like ERC, very exciting blow up. ;) :) :) :)

Well at least that is one thing that has never and probably never will have happen to this poor backwoods country boy that lives in the middle of the great black swamp cause there is no yew here and no money to buy it with
So no worry about breaking yew here
Sorry it did not turn out better for you !
