I've got this baby close to finished, just needed a second set of eyes on it. I'm thinking the top limbs needs a tad taken off of it and the outer limbs on both sides need a few scrapes. The top limb is on the left. Asymmetrical limb design, top limb is an inch longer than the bottom. Pics are at brace, 18 inch draw and 24 inch draw. Any thoughts?
-
The right limb looks a little stiff in the middle of the first third of the limb( If that makes any sense to ya..LOL)..Other than that looks pretty freakin sweet!
-
It looks to me that your right limb (lower) is just a tad bit stiff in the middle of the limb. A little more bend there will bring that tip back up a bit and should get you real close to symmetry...... I dont think it needs very much at all....maybe a couple scrapes, excercise, check and maybe a little more, it is very close.
Just my opinion so wait for some other guys to chime in, couldn't hurt.

Well, I gonna give a little different opinion so take it for what it's worth. I think the tiller looks great but if I were to touch anything it would be the outer third of the left limb and just a tiny bit there.
Great job!

Paco, you posted while I was typing. the very outer 1/3 of the left limb needs a tiny bit of wood off. Really though it looks great.

Need to see it unbraced to know.
-
Unbraced. Top limb in on the right in this picture.

The real test here is not where the tiller needs correcting it is to see how many didn't notice the pin up pic on the wall. If you find yourself asking what pic without looking again your obsession with bows is beyond help and is probably why you are forum member here.
If I can ever make a bow that nice I will be quite satisfied. My newbie eye can't see much need for correction if at all.

Ok , you got me there BarredOwl , like most I was focused on the bending wood and nothing else so I must have it BAD .

All right paco, it looks like you are getting a bit carried away with my advice.

Hey sled could you post a pic of the front profile as well. Looks like there are some knots that might be the cause of the stiff looking area. How much reflex did you start with in the limbs?

the more I look at the pictures, the more I think I wouldn't touch it at all.
-
Front profile. Was dead even, no reflex. Has taken just a hair or set. Still think the top limb is a tiny bit stiff.
-
If you think the top limb is stiff, measure it. String the bow and go about 7" out from the center of the handle and measure the distance from the string to the belly on both limbs. I normally try to have a 1/8 shorter measurement on the bottom limb, meaning the bottom limb is stiffer. Others do it differently but for me that shoots best.

I think you're right sled. Try what Rich stated back on the first page. He gives great advise. :)
