i was watching a video on to youb and the guys pressure flaker looked like it had some kind of choke on it for easy wire replacement or extention. anyone ever see something like that? and where would i find just the choke to make it myself?
-
I have no idea what that is but set screws in the side are real handy.

Check out shinbone 500 on YouTube i think he has a video on what you want, flintknapper jimmy too

I had one built like a pinvise once. I lost it :(

Ordered mine off some flint knappers supply website. Have one end super fine, the other just normal so I just loosen the screw with the Allen wrench(built in the handle) then swap ends and tighten. Fast, easy, simple.

the one I seen was like you pull down on the choke slidthe wire up then pushed the choke back down and it locked. or maby it screwed out like a brace and bit and ya screwed it back tight.

Flintknappingtools.com sells a 'twist lock' pressure flaker. Not sure if it's what you are talking about but you can find it here:

I think the "choke" you're talking about is called a "pin vice". It works similar to a drill chuck and hold various diameter wire, pins, etc.

I built a new one on Sunday. I used a section of old tent pole, and a section of copper tubing. I soldered more tubing around the first piece, drilled and tapped it. Then soldered the copper into the tent pole. I'll throw a picture up when I get home.

Here is the one I made. I have also need larger ones (Ishi sticks) that are about 1 1/2 diameter.
