No clue about legality but that aside.....
Get some panty hose, fill it with chum, corn, cat food, what have you, and tie it to a stump or close to the bank. Stand by for a bit and they will show up. Fire at will. Probably could shimmy up a tree for better viewing and spot light at night to see em even better. Bet you could get some carp like that too...

catfish are fair game in Michigan but not sure about chumming them and shooting .

Only non game fish are legal to shoot in Utah. Unless you are spear fishing.

2 catfish of any type per person per day in Ky. The best way to bowfish them is to catch water on the rise just as it breaks into a fields , or catch a good Mayfly hatch on the main river at night. 2 spoonbill limit as well.
