Here are some points and knife blades that I have been working on. The small arrowhead in the middle of the points is the first point I have ever made.
The photo with the preforms in it has a dark preform in the middle. That is an artifact that my wife found on the desert.
Like most beginners the notching has been an issue.

Those are nice! I like that green Jasper point. I have some of that and have done nothing but fight it. Tough stuff to flake.

Eddie, that is Jafar Jasper from India. My knapping instructor, Mike Cook has the heat treating of that stuff down pat. A couple of the other points, the small one and the one that is not notched yet is Polychrome Jasper from some island. Mike cooks that up and it knaps like butter.
The trouble is I see what you guys do on here and I just shake my head hoping to get half as good as you folks.

We've all been at the head shaking stage. You're doing great, just keepin hitting that rock! Sounds like you have a good mentor!

I am not too good at picture taking but the preforms in one photo are all 4" or larger. I got them to that stage and then set them aside. But as I stated the one in the middle is an artifact find that my wife found while we were hunting arrowheads on the desert . As far as I can tell the rock has been heat treaded and you can see thru sections of it. Not sure what it was made of but it was not from that area.
Thanks for the kind words.
