Title: Bandsaw blade sharpening jig
Post by: Knoll on July 08, 2015, 03:11:39 pm
Your bandsaw blade a bit dull?  Got a dremel?  May be easy solution!
John Heisz's channel is one of the few I follow.  He regularly has ideas that even I can execute.  :(
I have not tried this blade sharpening jig ... don't own a bandsaw.  But know many of ya'll do and thought this would be of interest/useful.

Nice video.  Wish you would have posted this a few days ago.  I just threw a dull blade away.  The rest of his videos look interesting.  I recognized your belt sander jig.

I've done the sharpen by hand method with Dremel.  Works but blade starts going down hill fast.  Need a depth stop.

Yes, depth-stop mod would be plus.

I use a dremel on mine without the jig, I just touch the dremel inside the hook for maybe 1/2 second. The blade always cuts smoother than new.

Watching the video I can see I am sharpening the opposite side of the hook. I will try it his way next time.

I've got loads of 10-14 tpi blades that need sharpening.... >:D
Sparks mean heat = lost temper.
