Title: Second bow finished
Post by: Oakenshield on August 05, 2015, 08:20:18 pm
Hello all,

Well, i called my second bow complete today. It doesn't have the perfect tiller and its a no frills short/long bow (don't exactly know what to call it?) but I'm happy with it. I only had the chance to sneak a couple shot in and it feels much much better than the last bow i made. Its English Yew, 61.5" n2n, and pulls ~ 57@28". I'm praying to the archery gods in the sky that this thing doesn't go south after i shoot it in, cross you're fingers haha. Forgot to sign the darn thing and already put a couple coats of mineral oil on, anyone know a solution to that? Well here it is:

Thanks for lookin, Oak

P.S. Thankg agian Leb, you where a big help! And everyone else who helped me, thanks guys.

That's awesome man you are really pumping them out, which side is your bottom limb?

Thanks man yeah ill probably take it much slower from now on haha. Starting to realize how important that is. The left limb is the bottom and unfortunately a little weaker i think, but maybe the extra inch on the other limb will balance things out?

Whoa, that looks sweet for your second bow.  The tiller on that left limb looks terrific.  The right limb looks a bit stiff just a few inches out from the fade.  Love the handle.  Keep up the good work!!!

Here's an option for a signature. Just scuff up the area where you want to sign it. Get a fine liner brush and some india ink or thinned out oil enamel. Make sure it's dry before more finish coats.

Congrats. Way nicer than my #2. I didn't have the nerve to try yew for almost my whole first year. It's hard to get around here and I was terrified to ruin a stave. Nice job.
