Oldie but goodie
I got rid of the photobucket pictures and thought I would repost it.
68" ntn 44#@28"
I got a half log at MoJam 3 years ago and made a bow with it.
So this one I let dry Inside my house for a long time, I made it 2 1/2" wide at the fades and 3/16"+ at the nocks. I did a slow heat treat like Marc St. Louis a year ago and sealed it
My taxidermist gave me a 6' long Timber rattler skin with head and tail because the scales were coming off. 16 Rattles
I work on and off on it until a few weeks before 2015 MoJam
after 80 shots it still has reflex in it.
Time will tell

Love that string! Great job of matching. Did you just randomly twist together different colors or did you have a plan. The bow looks great too but that string just grabbed my attention :D
-
I had the right color strings and they matched very well.
Thanks for looking
-
Great job. You did just what ash wants. Wide, long and tempered. Real nice tiller as well.
-
That thing sure turned out nice Max! I remember you working on that one at mojam. It was refreshing seeing your post today. I really like the skins and the matching string! Awh heck I love the whole thing! Patrick
-
Great bow, I agree with the others, that string matches your skins perfectly.
-
good looking bow, good looking string, and good looking skins. Id hunt with that any day.
-
Looks very good to me in all aspects . Pappy

Thanks Guy's

If that bow shoots as good as it looks, you've got a real winner. Congrats on a fine job.
-
Very nice bow. I second the string comment.
-
Nice bow. Looks flawless in braced position and at full draw, plus the finish work is very nice as well.
Like the others said that string is sweet also.
-
Really nice bow......love the tips, handle wrap, skins, string, back profile, bend......well I guess, just about everything.. :) :)

Now thats a nice ash! You got a great ash! :)
-
Now thats a nice ash! You got a great ash! :)
And judging by the heat treating on the belly, that is one hot piece of ash!
Wicked tips, freakishly thin stuff there! I would eat my way thru a chainlink fence for a chance to shoot that bow!
-
Thanks everybody
-
Well done on that ash, great profiles and I really like the finish work.
-
I'd say that bow turned out real well and that string is a nice touch of detail.
There's a lot of good wood to make a bow with but you really can't beat a good piece of ash...
-
Thanks guy's

Somehow I missed this first time around. Very nice bow, those tips are a piece of art!
-
Great looking bow. I love the snake skin with matching string.

I am fond of the tips! Light in weight and lighten fast . no or little shock! Arvin
-
Great looking bow, string, tips and skins. I have been too chicken to go that skinny on my tips so far.
-
I love how you color matched the string with the snake. great looking bow. this place is full great/artistic bowyers. can't get enough of it. keep em coming.
-
WOW. I love everything about that bow. Very nice work. VERY nice.
-
That bow turned out real nice, especially since you first considered it sub-par wood. Just curious, how does it cast an arrow. It does look fast. Good job. God Bless

I build bows narrow at the tips + some,(Thanks Blackhawk) If it does'nt work out , Then I have learned
-
That is a killer bow. Great design and way to get after it with the tempering!
Like others have said, those skinny tips and the perfectly matched string are tops!
-
Edited pictures.

A prime example of a self bow adhereing to a woods density with an appropriate design.
-
Thanks for bringing this one back. Very nicely done definitely deserves having the pictures reposted.
