I haven't posted a ton lately, maybe because I haven't done much archery related anything lately. That happens when the semester starts . . .
But I have been slowly working on a new arm guard. Just a quick project . . . that has probably eaten up 25-35 hours. So far.
Let me tell you, getting the curve right to fit the cone that is my arm was a real pain. Them horse leather being really stiff, and accounting for the suede liner that I'll glue on later, did not help.
The fittings are forged from 3/32 stainless steel.

Here is a close up of the first prototype ring I did. I guess you could even call it a staple? Looks sketchy maybe but its in there tight, not going anywhere, especially after the liner is glued on over the prongs.
-
Maybe another 10,000 hours with the brush and it'll be done and ready for the liner to be glued on.
-
Nice tooling and interesting lacing hoops.
-
You did a really nice job on it.

That armguard-in-process is some kinda cool!
-
Interesting how you did the loops, and excellent tooling!
-
Looking good. Nice work for sure. :)

Wow! That is fine work!

Oh, yea! That is going to be nice.

Dyeing is DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, except for the edge after I trim but that doesn't count!!!!!!!!
I've also got the liner glued on, which was a stress fest. Turns out this size piece uses a lot of glue. To the order of about an entire bottle of Weldwood, and I only had 3/4. I thought surely that'd be more than enough, and once you start, you gotta finish so I spread it on and kept spreadin.
Just got to trim it now, dye the edge, finish coat, DONE!
