Title: New longbow
Post by: Mazku on February 10, 2008, 02:54:34 pm
A new longbow. 1,06" wide midlimb narrowing to about 1/4" nocks. It pulls 40# at 24". The arrow pass is inlayed into the wood. The bowyer's mark is an old english M (comes from my name Mathias. The finish is two coats of stain, 5 coats of oil and one big coat paraffine. Final stringfollow just unbraced is 1" on the upper limb (longer) and 1,5" on the lower limb (shorter).

Spine suggestions? What spine should i have at 28" before shortening the arrows?

Maz, nice bow there. I would start with arrows 26" long and around 35# spine. About 400 grain arrows should shoot nicely from that bow. You could even start with your arrows around 28" long and if they are too weak go down 1" at a time. Do you know hot to tell if the spine is too stiff or not, Left is too stiff, right is too weak. If you are a right hand shooter. Steve

Great job, the bow is awesome.
I think Steve is right on the arrows for spine. I would definitely start at 28". Justin

Thanks for all comments.

You mean that i should start with arrows 28" long unfletched and then shoot and shorten till they fly straight?
