A buddy stopped by last night. He teaches engineering
principals in Lexington VA.
We were shootin the breeze and he asked if I wanted
to see some of his teaching aids.
Of course I said "affirmative"
Here is one of them. Thought you all might enjoy.

Locust? I know it used to be used for bearings.

It's from the 1700s.
Some kind of yarn winder?
The grain looks like yellow Pine to me
but it's very light. I'd be dried out
to if I was that old.

Lignum Vitae? I know it was used for tools, because it is pretty tough stuff.

I have heard about that wood.
There is a key named after it in the Floeida Keys.
Wood like that that grows in coral sand and salt
water must be tough. 8)
