I got myself 6 presents for a mere !5 bucks.
I just happen to be checking out the ammo counter
and the nice lady was just then opening the new shipment.
There is usually a line of people, 5X the number of boxes for sale.
I hit right-- no one but me and her She had a total of 8 boxes.
She said I could buy 3. I got two :)
I posted this because there were some .22 questions
on another thread. BTW I live in Northern VA

Do you have a "Shortage" of .22 in your area? I have a store a block from my work that has about 75,000 rounds on the shelf of .22

There is a shortage here and I know there was in Indiana.
I thought it was national. I heard it was because the
goverment closed the lead smelting plants???
There ain't to much available in the other ammo either.
Mullet mention there is plenty in FL?

Where I live in FL there is indeed plenty of ammo, you walk into a Walmart or Academy and buy a Bucket O' Bullets no problem.

HAHA, no, no .22 bans. It was hard to find for a long time. Some places it still is.

Here in Missouri, .22 got about as hard to find as hens teeth! But recently I'm starting to see a few more around. Which is nice, I'm tired of walking into a store and seeing the no 22 amo sings.

I paid 7.50 for 300 rounds that's heavy compared
to a couple years ago.

I think my uncle said it was like 8.95 for 100 rounds of cci where he got his at the other day. I had a guy try to sell me a 300 round box at a gun show the other day. He wanted 40 a box.
It's a complete rip-off!

22 ammo is pretty scarce around here, none on the shelves but if you happen to go in Gander Mountain when they restock there will be a little for a few hours then it is gone. Few of the mail order companies have it and the ones that do are double charging for it.
The latest democrat proposal to require background checks for ammo purchases will start hoarding madness back up big time.
I am pretty well stocked up except for 22 mag. I am not paying the $28-40 a box for mail order ammo that I normally buy for around $12.

This is the reason that it is hard to find. People think it is going away and stockpile it. My Father in law has about 30,000 rounds. He is retired and gets to Cabelas every morning that they have a shipment. He buys the max amount he can, every week. It is more expensive due to the masses hoarding it. Supply and demand.

It as absent here for a while. recently one hardware store had a sale for 44$ a brick. The current price for the same brick is 54$ but it is in stock.

Is it just .22 or are all calibers hard to get in spots?

Pistol amo is a little hard to find. And some of the older amo like the British 303 rounds.

.303 I can understand, pistols I know nothing about as they're practically illegal up here. Hoarding is a funny thing. It's kind of a pack rat personality concentrating on one item. You'd think that after a guy got say 20,000 rounds he'd want to dispose of some. ;) ;)

.380 became popular in the past few years. When I got into guns they were said to be garbage, now, everyone and their dogs have one. .380 is hard to find, .223 and any other round shot out of a sporting rifle. Basically around here, anything that people think will get banned is bought up and horded. .22 and .22 mag has skyrocketed in price. As well as .17. .45 ACP, .40 SW, 9mm, basically any smaller pistol ammo. Hunting rounds are still available, always have been. Utah has a large number of Concealed Carry permit holders. My FIL doesn't even shoot a .22, ever. Or his .17. Makes gift giving easy in my family. Just a few boxes of ammo and they're good to go. ;D

I haven't seen .22 on any shelf for months. When I found some the gunshop owner had drove to southern Oregon to buy it and was selling 50 rounds for 11 bucks. It used to be 550 for 11 bucks. So I bought a .22 pellet gun. 500 rounds of good ammo for 9 bucks. Shot a squirrel today and it left a bigger hole then a normal .22, neighbor didn't hear nor did the wife in the house, and the pellet stopped in a stick. I'm in NE Washington but have looked from here east to Idaho, south to northern Oregon and everywhere inbetween.

Could you push a .22 pellet into a .22 rifle and put a starting blank or ramset round in? A bit cumbersome and you have to practice a lot for a semi automatic ;) should work, maybe?
