ive officially started my first selfbow. of corse its on a piece of saskatoon with paper thin growth rings. after an hour and a half the back is downt to one growth ring in a one inch by two inch square. i refuse to mess up XD. some straightening will be needed but i think so long as the back goes well itll all be ok. ive got maybe three or four knots to work out. nothing like diving into a little bit of every problem a stave can have XD

Why did you chase a ring?

im not really, just taking off the cambium and bark

And so it ends xD haha. What does one do when he realizes the stave hes been working was from the batch cut two months ago not eight and sees a crack forming in the end??? He coats it in an entire bottle of elmers and prays itll be ok till april.... not gona hope too hard tho... damn it anyways eh

Jayman, that was a short story, hope you can procure another stave before April.

I had an ocean spray that had a pretty good check going 5-6" long, filled it with glue and wrapped it with stretch wrap and sucked it together with an innertube, worked pretty good

Haha i know. Sadly short story. I got my piles mixed up. I guezs i vetter start physically labeling each stave. Lesson learned.
