This KY coffeetree fell during the summer, had leaves on it until fall. With the rain forecast things will probably get nasty, so I decided to knock out some staves today..

Wow... Joe you were right!!! That looks like it might be a little tough to get those out of there... Guess you accessed those by boat.
Sure wish I could have been there with ya...
Nice haul!!

No, took the boats out last weekend... like a dummy... had to pack them about a hundred yards and up a steep 40 foot incline to the truck.. There's still 3 or 4 to pack... I was whooped... Before I started the saw a flock of turkey was yelping and 2 or 3 gobbled... Thanksgiving turkey!
Yeah Chris, that's my back yard... When I give Bill one of these staves he's gonna have to name the bow riverrat

What are coffee tree's bowwood qualities? I'll have to try some.
-
Nice looking haul Joe. That is some beautiful scenery. I might have to trade you out of one of those staves at Moontree in a few months.
Did you see my post about the gold coated deer teeth? Have you ever heard of that before?
-
That looks fantastic! What great photos -- makes me want to get outside an split staves like that.

Nice haul of some KCT and good looking country there. The wood that turns violet when dry heated.I used to coon hunt in eastern Kentucky by Sturgis yeas ago.Lots of persimmon trees there too.Beautiful country.

It is a beautiful wood, hinges easily, but makes a snappy bow. The one I built this year I got complete pass throughs with.. and a few pass unders too....

The time stamp tells the tale... at least KCT splits easily!
Some other shots...

Nice Haul! Looks like some good straight, clean coffee wood. Looks like a that trail gets quite a bit of use too!
