Title: Fumed white wood?
Post by: smoke on December 11, 2015, 08:58:11 am
Has anyone tried to fume white wood?  I'm finishing up a nice hackberry and debating how to color the wood.  Any experiences you have had are welcome. Thanks! Don

Try it on a scrap piece first

It all depends on the tannin content of the wood. The OS in that link turned that dark in 48 hours but I've had a piece of Douglas maple testing for a week and at best its a light grey. Like the Wiz says try a test piece. This is my test tank :D There is about a half inch of "Sudsy Ammonia" in it.
