Title: Osage static for Wald, 44#/28”, (No. 72)
Post by: simson on January 12, 2016, 12:45:35 pm
Wald requested a left handed static with selftips. I had a nice suitable stave for it, some corrections had to be done and a carefully work at a big knot hole (not going through) in the lower limb. Wald picked a red leather out of my pile and I thought a arrow pass inlay of mother of pearl is a good combination. She got a red string and the knot hole wall is painted with red earth pigments.
She's 65½” ntn.

The lower limb has a wiggle (unavoidable). First I thought of steaming it out, but finally left it and made a single kerf side nock. It works great, string is absolutely in the right position.

Pretty cool Simon. I like the idea with the single nock.

Simon, very nice in all respects, and love the bend. I too am impressed with that single sided string knock.

I really like the way you work with a piece of wood and enhance it rather than making it succumb to your will.  Very tastefully done as usual Simon.
