Levi my 9 yr old grandson has been wanting to build his own bow for a while now and today he got a good start. Thanks guys heck i had it in the stave press and told levi to step back and i lifted the limb and asked him if the bend looked smooth, he looked at it and after a slight pause pointed to a spot and said it wasn't the same as the rest, and sure enough he saw a slight stiff area, the boys a natural😀

He got some nice hooks too, he thought it was cool that after a little heat the wood bent, it's really fun showing him this too! Heck i wish i got bends like that on my fourth try let alone first

Yeah he did pretty good Clint, we did have a good time we even got his string made i did the second loop and he did the first after i got him started

Looking real good!  Every time i bend hooks with dry heat like that i break em or  break the top ring or two.

I think you were right Clint that upper fade is a little stiff, i will have him take a few scrapes to fix that, it is a quick little bow though. It isn't finished yet thoughlots of thigs left to tie it all together

Never saw this thread before. Bubby, I'm at a loss for words. Seeing a kid that young working with his awesome bowyer grandpa makes me feel like the good will always outweigh the bad in this world. :)
