Post by: Stick Bender on March 14, 2016, 06:48:39 pm
Im planing on making this bow 1 1/2 wide for 2/3 of length then tapper 3/8 in. 68 1/2 ntn 50lb. @29 in. that knot would be roughly 7 inches out of the fade , would you worry about it ?

I wouldn't worry as long you take it down a few rings and handle them properly.  When I take them down a few rings, I usually leave these until last, Isolate this section and sometimes if you can get under the early wood, it pops right off.

You could leave it in as long as you chased the ring.  Take it out if you have enough width.

I have made a lot of bows with cut through pins on the edge of the limbs, never had a failure.

I have put them that close with no problem but not through them on the edge so I can't say that.Yours looks doable though.Your projected bow is long enough and that'll help ya.I'd go for it if I was you but it's really not my call it's yours.

I wouldn't worry about it, rather not have it there but as with most Osage you always have something like that somewhere. Leave a little wood around it and carry on is what I would do. :)
