I finally finished my Christmas gifts. After the osage stave I was working on for son #1 broke during tillering, my son set his eye on a floor tillered stave I received in the Christmas trade. The wood is white oak stained with a walnut stain and sealed with 6 coats of tung oil. It pulls about 50# at 28" but just under 45# at his draw length. I think he likes the simplicity of this bow because every time I offered to fancy it up, he went with the simple option. He wants to shoot off the hand. And before you say it Ajooter, both of us are working to get our elbows down :D

Nice job on that bow. It looks like it will last him for a long time.
-
dang how old is he? he looks like he has my build. which makes me feel better about trying to learn to use a bow (eventually xD)
-
He is 17 and takes after his dad when it comes to (not) shooting straight.
-
Great job Jeff, nice bend and I'm sure your boy is happy

Good tiller on that bow. :) If you concentrate on squeezing your shoulder blades together near the end of the draw it might help with the elbow.
-
Nice looking bow, I am sure he will enjoy that. :)

Very nice Jeff

That is a beauty of a bow! Jawge

Great tiller Jeff. That alone will make you a lot of good bows.
-
Another beauty. Good Work Jeff.

Great job Jeff. You aren't the only ones that have to concentrate on that high elbow. I've been shooting for years and still find myself slipping back into it.
That will make a fine bow for your son. he has room to grow and still be able to use it. Should last a lifetime.

thanks everyone. To be honest, I still feel like a complete newcomer most of the time, so to get such nice compliments from others who make such nice bows really means a lot. I have learned so much from so many of you, so thanks.

Well done Jeff!

If I could choose between my nice full head of hair or your bowmaking skills, I would buy a warm hat.
Excellent work, sir! And that applies as much to the bow as it does the fine looking young man!
