Wishing Her Majesty a very happy 90th Birthday and her many more to come. 8)
Long live the queen.

i am Irish so for me her symbolism i find more offencive than the swastika. Nothing against her personally just what she represents.
Out with the Brittish :)

That's your first post???? Happy Birthday Liz

Of course you find it more offensive than the swastika that's because the republic of Ireland was allied to Germany in WWII.
I try to follow a policy that if I don't have anything good to say, I won't say it (unless asked)
BTW... where do you live?
For the record... I'm not pro monarchy, but I think she has done a fine job for the UK. Not many leaders would have stayed in London during the blitz.

Happy Birthday to Her Majesty the Queen, noble and gracious.
And a big thank you for her stirling efforts in forwarding the peace process in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, I like to think we have come a long way from tears and heartbreak and no longer give to backward bigotry, thinking or actions. For me personally..."long may she reign over us, God save the Queen!"

That's your first post????
I'm thinking it may well be his last too!

I surely didn't mean to stir up that hornet nest. With a name like Patrick Brennan I'm only 2 generations from Ireland.
QEII has been a true force in the world over her many years on the throne and it doesn't look like she's going anywhere soon.
Long live the Queen. 8)

If her mother's anything to go by she'll be around for a while yet, I certainly hope she is.
-
Queen Mum lived to over 100 didn't she?
-
I raised a small glass in her honor last night.
-
I have a bit o the Irish me self, but I could give a rocks tickle for foreign politics.
Happy birthday Ol' girl! May you see a hunert!

102. So we've probably got at least another 10-15 years to go yet!
-
I'm mostly Welsh, but she's served this country 30 years past retirement age and I really admire her work ethic. Thank God for her health and strength, happy birthday Ma'am.

Ireland was not allied with Germany just for your info. My point was politics should not be brough into this forum at all. one person may feel they offend no one with there view but this is seldom true.
4500000 reduction in population to me is resion enough not to comply with the British establishment. u should look into what they refferd to as the Irish salutation.
Old Liz was received in Ireland very well and i have no mallis towards her as an individual at all. Only what she represents.
Peace is very important it is the only way to find forgiveness and heal for all sides but it is just as important we do not forget .

So to make the point that politics shouldn't be brought in to this forum you brought politics into this forum with your first ever post?
Anyway, if you want to start an argument in this bit of the forum there are much easier ways to do it than making politically controversial statements ;D

I remember seeing The Queen and Prince Philip as a youngster on a visit across the pond. She was inspecting the crown jewels at the Tower of London. Fond memories of 39 yrs ago. I still have a picture. Long live the Queen!

@Eoin:-
The British ruling class screwed everyone, not just the Irish. (And are still doing so)
The vast majority of Irish want to forget and move on. I suggest you do to.
And yes, I stand corrected Ireland was "neutral" ::)

I suspect that wasn't a good thing?
One thing I noticed about holes in the sand, is the more you try digging your way out,the deeper they seem to get >:D
