Title: Osage!
Post by: JoJoDapyro on April 22, 2016, 09:59:50 am
This is one of about 5 osage trees I am aware of in the Salt Lake valley. This beauty is recorded at 77 feet tall, with a spread of 46 feet. The trunk is 164 inches around. You think you could get a few staves out of it?

Perv.......

Hey, Imagine living in an area with only Blondes, you would be slack jawed when you came across a redhead too! And if that redhead was always on your way to work, you may snap a photo too!

All joking aside you should stop and ask them if they ever cut it down if they would contact you.  Maybe they will get tired of the fruit and thorns eventually.  You might get some shorter pieces out of it.  Its hard to see what the bottom trunk section looks like.  Without a canopy to compete for sunlight, they limb out like that.

It is twisty at the bottom, with a big burl. I need to stop by one day. I doubt it will be going anywhere, anytime soon, it is the largest Osage tree in Utah.

There  are some huge osage trees on my way to work. I've thought for 11 years now that if they ever cut one I'd snag some of it. About three weeks ago I saw one of them was down and they were cleaning up. I stopped to ask but it was already cut up or gone. They did say they would call me if they cut another one though. If they do it's not too far down the road from a certain outlaw ....
