Title: Shortbows asymmetrical or symmetrical?
Post by: punch on May 12, 2016, 06:14:54 pm
I'm newish to shortbows. Gundoc gave me a really nice piece of osage in a trade. Its 56" planning on a bendy handle D bow. How do most of you do these symmetrical or asymmetrical?

I've been going asymmetrical more lately, seems to look better especially on short bows.

I build all my bows symmetrical. For me, I can see tiller better with symmetrical bows...long or short.

I go asymmetrical with mine. On a bow of 56" I typically make the top limb around 3/4" to 1" longer.

I make all mine symmetrical unless I have a reason with the wood I can't. Short or long. ;)
