Anyone use one of these? "Shooting the Stickbow" recommends it so I made one. I think it helps. It seems to get rave reviews on the net but I did a search on here and got no hits.

I don't know what it is.

It took me a bit to find a site that wasn't selling it.
It teaches you to maintain back tension through the release by tying your elbow to the bowstring. You can practice your release indoors with no arrow and it shows you if you're doing it right. It looks like so much hokum when you look at it but so far I feel pretty positive about it. Apparently the Olympic types have been using them for years. Time will tell.

Do a Google search on "rigid formaster training aid", there's lots of stuff.
-
Nope, but if it works for you then go for it. :)

Hmm, wonder if this would work for thumb release...

Why not?
I wonder how to make one out of paracord and such.. maybe with leather straps?
-
I used the belts off an old child's car seat. I put Velcro on the strap that goes around my forearm. Makes it easier to put on. Sewed the pieces together and melted a hole for the tether with a soldering iron. The tether is just some nylon string.
-
Hmm, I may have to do this, I can see how it would be very helpful in not only working on form but building up those muscles for those who can't always get to the range to shoot (like when it's a million degrees in Florida...).

Don't dive in just yet. The bow I've been using has developed a chrysal. It may be be from a dry fire(my bad) but the jury is still out.
-
I think it would be great for practicing thumb release. Could always use a PVC bow or something.
-
Luckily the bow I would use this with is solid FG (spits on ground). DC, did your cord give way and dry fire your bow?
-
No, I just forgot to hook up the tether :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[
