This was the first Osage bow that I made back in 2005. It shot really well but I made the selfnocks really delicate and I was using artifical sinew string at the time so after a lot of shooting with it the string split the bottom limb from the nock up several inches. I glued the split and put on some black walnut overlays and after more shooting the string started cutting into the walnut so the bow was put in the closet and almost forgotten as I built others. I recently got it back out and cut it down to 62 inches, narrowed the tips to 3/8 inch, put on new overlays of deer antler and refinished it. I added a new braintan handle wrap too. It draws 56 at 26 inches and really slings an arrow, it's one of my favorite bows now. Here are a few pics. Alan

Just excellent - And bookmarked for March Self Bow of the Month. Did you post this for BOM in 2005?, if so what month. I've probably still got it on my computer.

Thanks Don. No I've never posted this one before. I hardly knew what a computer was in 2005. :D

Nice contrast with the antler. reworkings are popular these days aren't they.
