I was playing around and made this sucker just for the helluvit. It's about 50" long, about 700 grains, made from river cane with quickee two-feather fletching and a dogwood point. I didn't take too many pains with it, but surprisingly, it flies great and is quite accurate. I shot it a few times from a long 50# ash flatbow and at 15 yards it's point-on. At twenty it's still accurate, but drops a bit more than a normal arrow. No wagging or porpoising. I expected it to nose-dive or flit around like a drunken bat, but it flies true. It hits the target bag with a sound resembling a dead cow being whacked in the paunch with a go-devil. The first shot a fifteen yards went all the way through the eternity target bag with the point sticking out the other side. :o Now all I need is to get within range of a monkey......I may have to make some more of these and a seven-foot jungle bow to shoot them with. That would be a lot of fun, take 'em to a 3D shoot with the wheelie guys and their overdraws and 23" arrows. ;D

That's pretty darn cool; i especially like that dogwood point. I like your sound effects description. Looks like you might need to get on that airboat of eddies and shoot down some of dem invasive simians ;D
-
Jonathan, I got plenty of invasive hairy simian cousins infesting the hollers around here. ;D And don't tell me you've never whacked a dead cow in the paunch with a go-devil ;D
-
mind if this yankee asks what a go devil is ;) nice monkey sticker
-
What the heck is a Go Devil?
-
I can't believe you bunch of rednecks don't know what a godevil is. At least Jamie has the excuse of being a Yankee....... ;D It's one of these here things:

Oh, a Maul. ::) A Go Devil down here is a motor for duck boats that cost too much for me to justify.
-
That is a cool arrow. You might have to get a new quiver though. :o Justin
-
Cool arra - loooooong ;D. That gives me an idea (oversized idea, hmmm)..
-
can you imagine all the wierd looks the wheely guys would give you if you took that to a 3d shoot ;D
-
Cool arrow Steve. Lots of the South American "long" monkey arrows don't have fletchings. Have you tried shooting a long unfletched arrow? Pat
-
OOGA BOOGA... big bad arrow...should do the trick on a monkey, or an ape for that matter... ;D ;)
-
Hey Thats a real knockm out Arrow :)
-
freakin awesome dude ;D i love that arrow. i meant to make some for the longest time, (with bamboo heads), but i just don't seem to find the time. or maybe i've got my priorities all wrong.
coincidently, right now there's a thread on one of the german forums discussing the advantages and dynamics of long unfletched jungel arrows.
-
Thanks, guys, it's fun to experiment with wierd stuff sometimes. Pat, I bet it would fly fine without the fletchings, especially if it had a heavier point on it. I'm thinking about making a couple of big long cane fish arrows with no fletchings.
-
That's a really cool arrow Steve. Really neat making making stuff like that from other parts of the world. Man who would have thought anybody wouldn't know what a go devil is!? :D
Alan
-
Yeah Alan, the educational system just ain't what it used to be, is it? Maybe we need a "no redneck left behind" program. ;D
-
Too much fun!...... :D
Looks great for stump shoot'n (it'd be hard to loose that sucker!)
-
Thats cool Hillbilly, I bet with that kind of wieght you could penetrate anything ;D Keenan
-
Nice Hillbilly, I bet it would work good for a Atlatl dart !
-
FB, I've made some atlatl darts that weren't much longer than that. :)
-
I'm going to my first Atlatl competion this Sunday, any pointers ?? never done it before.
-
Dont stand anywhere near target they are throwin' at ! :o ;D ;D.....bob
-
Thanks Bob ;D
-
Cool arrow. An added benefit is that if you break your bow, you could just string up one of your arrows and keep on keepin' on.
We call that thing a splitting maul in Colorado, BTW

Alan
Better question is; why would you hit a dead cow with it? ::)....Brian
-
Why not? ;D
-
To chase the Opossum's out.
-
I prefere a whim-wham or yo-yo for my dead bovine encounters ;D
Cool arrow. What kind of feathers are those, goose wing?
Otoe
-
See, Eddie has a perfectly legitimate answer. Otoe, yep, they're Canada goose.
-

Buy the cow first. At the moment it got whacked it became a prized cow hand raised and all that other bull. It is worth twice as much as any other cow in the field. :o Justin
-
Justin, that's the truth. I remember a couple friends of mine had a few too many delicious cold beverages one night when we were teenagers and ran out of the road on the way home. Their car landed on top of an old scrawny ancient cow of their neighbors, and it suddenly became the most valuable cow in Haywood County. ;D

Yep same thing working in Saudi. You'd be suprised at how many Saudi Arabian National Racing Donkey Champions got ran over by a drill rig. ::)
-
i see eddie still has an achy breaky heart. steve, that's why i like to shoot 34-36" arrows they make gap shooting a snap. i usually hit close to what i'm aiming at with them.
