So sorry for your loss spotted dog. They were real heroes all of them, but as Ruddy said those tankers had to be some really brave guy's to go up against those much more heavily armored German tanks. Myself and my family feel your loss, we all miss heroes like him just amazing what these young men did for each other and so many they never knew. I'm sure you have a spot that aches from your loss. It is hard to lose our parents I still miss my mom a lot. I wish many good memories for you to help ease the pain. I pray your dad will find true peace.

I'm very sorry, it's never easy losing a close family member. Your Dad was the real definition of a hero being in the first Army at Normandy. I just read a book about them at Normandy. They took the heaviest losses and if it wasn't for them the war could have been lost during that invasion or made to last a lot longer. Very few tanks made it to shore that day,and the few that did led the breakout off the beach, your Dad was very lucky.

Lost my dad in may this year. Korean war vet. We owe a debt of gratitude to all the dads that served and sacrificed. Cheers to your dad! May he and all the others live on in our memories.

Thanks brothers. It means a lot to me. Dad was a simple man. Lived that way. A hell of a soldier.
I can't wait for family to go home so I can pay tribute to him my way.

My dad, a WW 11 veteran also, is gone several years now.
He used to sing "Taps", to try to get his sons to go to sleep.
I wish I could play "Taps" in honor of your dad.
