Here's a Dagger I made from a file and very old butter knife. I silver soldered the blade into the handle and then browned the blade.

That's the coolest butter knife I've ever seen. You can butter a biscuit and take care of trouble makers with that thing.

The butter blade was silver soldered inside the hollow handle. I just turned it upside down and hit the handle with a torch and watched the solder run out. I just put the new blade in the hole and filled it back up with solder.

To make a knife from a file, is it best to just grind it down to what you want or to heat and hammer it down?
