The blizzard of 08 ;D. Course if your a true Texan and it snows you have to run out with the kids and build a snowman as fast as you can (law of the land :D). We got (they say) 8 to 9 inches here, but looked like 5 to 6 to me.
Got these huntin points built over last two days along with rescueing everyone that called for it - those fingers get to hurtin when their cold :)...

Hi, Now they look like they can do the job! Thanks for showing them.  ;D

Hey Paul, nice snowman, man.   :o  Does she do the pointing and yelling on the snowman projects? ;D
Kind of unusual that you got the snow and we got nothing but cold air.  I guess the gulf moisture stalled out.
Nice points too.  I tried doing some knappin' last night while waiting to pick my daughters up from band practice.  I know what you mean about cold hands.  I finally had to quit because my fingers got numb and I don't think the school would appreciate me building a camp fire in the commons.

Well thanks Dana, I'm flattered ;D. No thanks we don't need anymore snow :).. David, i'll get you some rocks boxed up and mailed as soon as I can find em :). That's more snow than i care to see from now on - had my garden in two weeks ago and a lot of it had sprouted, I'll check the damage here in a couple of days. She was kinda telling me how SHE was going to build that snowman while she was playing around with dogs Otoe - kids ::).
Thanks Steve - that's the most excellent snow we've had to build a snowman in the last fifteen years that I can recall ;D.

Dang, even the snow storms are big in Texas!....we have had more snow this winter here in Kansas than i can remember in the recent few years, although we do get our fair share in a normal season.  Great looking points cowboy. you know, if i had the tools and had starting knapping when we had the big ice storm/power outage back in December, i would be so much further ahead than i am know....lol.

Yep David, just look for the worn out lookin guy spittin Copenhagen everywhere :D.
Thanks ya'll on the blade :), part of a trade. Yankee: That's made of Novaculite I bought from Missouri trading company. It's nice and easy to work, somewhere between this flint I've got and obsidian. Won't take a lot of abuse like hacking through leg joints and stuff, but fine for skinning and boning.
This global warming thing, hmm - I don't know. I'm kinda leaning toward old mother earth is just doing what she's been doing for millions of years :).

OK ....you lost me there....a Go Devil ...back home is a Logging Sled....in Texas it used to be a big metal dart that they dropped down a Well to explode the Dynamite Charge to open the Formation up for the oil to come in......but I know that these definitions aren't what you are referring to!!!! ???

			-
Yankee, Around here a go-devil is a wood splitting maul.  I was referring to another post where Hillbilly was referencing such a task...or the sound it would make.   Pat

Paul, As far as I am concerned those are about the perfect size and shape points for deer hunting. You are getting the hang of this knapping stuff! ;D     Pat

			-
Man, I'll tell ya yankee - if I thought I could write my own book with lot's of pic's and make a mint, I'd be all over it ;D ;D. Their's so many out there already, just don't think I have anything different to show - oh well, keep buying those lottery tickets.
Thanks Pat: I'm starting to get the hang of a lot of things here lately :D - wish a big nest egg was one of em ;D.

			-
Those points are impressive cowboy!!  What kinda flint and tools did you use for that batch?  I like that novaculite knife you made too!  If you don't put your skills down in a book, what about a build-along for PA? ;D
Thanks for sharin'  Joe

			-
Thankee Joe :). Those are a mix of spalls I had in my bucket from Pedernales flint and some stuff I pick up in the Brazos river here about an hour from home. I've kinda toyed with the idea of maybe doing something for the magazine sometime, hmm ::)..
