I'm nearly finished with a couple of winter projects:
A 53" OS experimental bow that I did a concave belly and rawhide back. 14oz. It stacks at about 25" so that is when I release the arrow. About 40lbs tops. I may have dished it out too deep as performance is mediocre. More experimenting to come.....
And a bow for a friend who is not an archer but thinks the concept is cool. 68"ntn, 45@28. Instead of thinning the sapwood I decided to trap the back and rawhide what was left. I straightened but the upper limb still leans and puts the string just off center. I'm not tickled over this bow and thought about starting another for the gift but family and friends think its great. It certainly shoots great. Anyway......

2 really nice bows. The rawhide on the ocean spray is good insurance because of the pins in that wood?I'l have to remember that if I get a hold of some of that wood.

Nice bows! What is the handle covered with on the Yew?

Some really nice bows showing up in the past week and these two are no exception. Very nice. Oh yea, and I'm jealous of that tool wall. My workshop looks like a cyclone went through it. (W

Couple of nice bows you have there.

Nice bows and nice to see you posting again

Nice work on both!
On the short one, I would scrape some more on the inner (mid) portions of both limbs to get more bend. I don't think you are to deep concave, but your stick seems to be quite narrow. hard to say from the pics ...

Thanks ya'll for the responses and nice comments.
DC--Not sure. I buy used women's purses if they have good handle material.
Simpson--You're right. I was going more for performance than just a nice curve. When I got to below 1/2" thickness from crown to belly I decided to start shooting it with the idea that I would try another tiller vs. profile either later on this bow or on another if it didn't perform. Wasn't sure how much the flatness of the belly would contribute to performance.

I just couldn't see a seam so I thought it was seamless. Camera angle I guess.

Beautiful bows, I especially like the bend on the yew.
