This is my latest set that I made for a trade for a fellow PA member. I tried my best to make what I thought looked like a traditional Asian arrow. They are big box store bamboo stakes since I couldn't find anything else in the length I needed.
36" long!!! (Manchu style shooting w/ thumb ring)
Spined at 60-65#
All weigh between 570 - 620 grains
125 grain points
Turkey primaries
Self nocks
Wrapped with deer sinew.
Banana shaped fletching
I couldn't tell you how many times I had to straighten these shafts, but they just kept wanting to return to their original shape. Finally I got them straight enough to where I was happy with them.
This is also the first time I was able to use my new homemade feather burner. It works so much better than cutting with scissors, but my goodness does it stink!

Very nice!

Very nice looking arrows

Thanks urufu, thanks Joe

Nice work! I have heat straightened raw tonkin, so I empathize with the feeling... it's difficult
You shoot with a manchu style thumb ring?
-
Thank you loon, I do not shoot with that style, but the guy that is getting these does ;)

Very nice arrows :D :D

Nice

Those look great! Bamboo makes the classiest arrows by a mile 8)

very nice. I really like the cresting. what kind of paint did you use? Did you put a finish over the top?
-
Great work A-a-ron.
-
Thanks fellas.
Jeff, the cresting is just enamel model paint. I did put a polyacrylic finish over the raw bamboo, but not the model paint.

Very nice arrows Aaron, how did you make your feather burner? A couple old soldering guns followed me home. I was thinking about trying to make one from one of them.
-
Thanks bj
I have heard that soldering guns work really well. Mine however just uses a 6v battery charger. The biggest hurdle I faced was finding a heating element that wouldn't fall apart when I put the heat to it. I found out that stainless steel welding wire would glow red hot, but also stay intact. The base is just like most homemade burners you see out there.

Then's some purdy arrows, Aaron. :OK

Can't wait to get these stuck in my target! Send me an address and Karpowicz's book is all yours!
