Title: Getting some bad vibes
Post by: bjrogg on June 04, 2017, 11:05:42 am
Been pretty busy for awhile now. Had a little to play a couple nights ago. Thought I had this one supported good. I was doing a little more percussion on the base when I felt the vibration go past my fingers

Basal thinning that late in the game on obsidian....yeesh. Haha.

Next time try sacrificing the base corners some and thin from there once the preform gets that thin. They are much more forgiving.

Yep Rob, I was pretty sure I wasn't the only one to do this. Probably not even the only one to do it more than once.lol. I knew as soon as I felt the vibration running between my fingers it wasn't gonna be good.

Try making a support board out of a peice of wood that will run the length of the blade. Fit it between your thumb then blade and fingers for support. Make sure to glue a piece of leather to the top of the board.

BJ when I hit the base I push the point into the inside of my leg Steve wraps it up in a piece of leather then pushes it into the inside of his leg.

Thanks for the tips Rob. I did screw up. Really I probably should have switched to pressure but I was on a roll. I will remember the wrapping tip and putting point in side of leg.
