Title: Persimmon- following a ring?
Post by: JRFaulk on June 15, 2017, 03:59:43 pm
I picked up a persimmon log on a job site.  It was sticking out in the air about 10 feet from a burn pile.  Jit was straight, about 6-7" in diameter, just couldn't let it burn.  Anyway, I debarked  it and noticed in a few place there were some borer holes, not deep, just in the first ring or so.  I looked at the ends of the log and had trouble seeing the rings.  Has anyone chased a ring on persimmon? Is it possible?  Is it worth it, or maybe I shouldn't worry about the small borer holes?  Enquiring minds want to know!  Every suggestion is appreciated.
