Title: Spotted Gum pyramid longbow, 68" ntn.

Finished up my first bow in a long time. And it held up! Shoots great.

Well done.
In your other post you mentioned that the lower limb had taken the most set. This can happen early in the process due to more pressure on the lower limb from stringing a relatively heavy bow.  It can also happen during shooting in. The change of pressure from a tillering stick, to being hand drawn can cause set in the lower limb. Set is a good visual cue to tell you if the limbs are working relatively evenly. I try to keep set relatively even, or no more than 1/4" difference, preferably with more set on the top limb. Wood is funny stuff and doesn't always do what you want it too or what you think it should, so sometimes you settle for an acceptable comprimise.
 1" of overall set is a good result in my book.
 Did it develop any chrysals?

Shot it in thoroughly today out in the Dandenongs,

No chrysals. I'm happy to leave it how it is and learn from its flaws.

Okay Julian, good job, even better with no chrysals. I have seen spotted gum with chrysals and still have a fine tiller.  Looking forward to seeing what your next bow is like.

I'm going to have a go at a few selfbows and then try making a pyramid / mollegabet hybrid for myself.
